Almost 1500 schools in Georgia have already received their free kits.  This Webinar is designed to give you a simple overview to familiarize you and to give you simple suggestions on how to utilize the kits.  Over 60,000 schools across the U.S. have registered to receive the Fuel Up to Play 60 school wellness activation kit.  Developed in partnership between the National Dairy Council and the National Football League, the program was designed to tackle the sedentary lifestyles and poor nutrition that have helped spur the current health and nutrition crisis among America’s youth.  This webinar will show you how to utilize the kit to engage and empower youth to get 60 minutes of physical activity each day and to make better food choices including low-fat and fat-free dairy, whole grains, and fruits and vegetables as recommended by the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.  This kit is available at no cost and will help you im plement wellness programs in your school.  It will help you inspire kids to “get up and play” for 60 minutes a day and to fuel up with the food groups kids don’t get enough of.
When schools enroll for Fuel Up to Play 60, they receive:
  • A menu of activities to support healthy eating and physical activity;
  • Colorful display materials with NFL Team insignia ideas and tips for engaging the entire school community in the program;
  • E-newsletters
  • The opportunity to compete with students across the U.S. for prizes.
Each school and individual students can sign up online to compete.  Students can track points they earn for participating in healthy activities (i.e., eating healthy foods like low-fat and fat-free dairy, whole grains, and fruits and vegetables and participating in physical activities).  It is not too late to involve PE teachers, school nurses, homeroom teachers, cafeteria managers, PTAs, parents and health professionals form the community to help send a unified message to the students on the importance of making good choices that can affect their bodies – now and in the future, so they can perform their best – inside and outside the classroom.
