Go Green Events

The PTA Go Green club is officially up and running! With more than 35 students representing all grades, the group has both educational and fun montly meetings. The students learned about disappearing forests and we made a giant tree in the gym with Go Green facts on the leaves. Check it out next time you are at school. To help reduce paper and plastic use, the kids decorated canvas tote bags to use as a carry all.   We reused milk jugs and made them into bird feeders.  At Fall Festival, we were excited to recycle more than 150 phone books. Our Earn Green for Going Green campaign had four $10.00 winners. They were Suzanne Gonzalaz, Danielle Schoen of Mrs. Boyle's class, the Standish family, and Erin Kincade of Ms. Pelkey's class. Congratulations and thanks to all who participated. Please continue to recyle phone books, magazines, and catalogs can be recycled at Sixes in our red/green SP recycling bin, near the aluminumum can recycling cart.  In addition, our recycling containers for aluminum cans and plastic water bottles were used at Fall Festival, and we will continue to have them at special events. Our goal is to educate the students on how to reduce, reuse, and recycle.  Please contact Suzanne Taylor at gogreen@sixespta.org for more information on our November 16 meeting when the Chattahoochee Nature Center discusses endangered animals.
